May 16, 2007 14 Killed in Palestinian Clashes in Gaza, Israeli Air Strike Kills 4 -------------------------------------------------------------------- More ---- http://enews.voanews.com/t?ctl=177E34C:A6F02AD83191E160AB3188AB8EEA0B829574F7DCC14957C0 Nearly 30 people have been killed in factional fighting across the Gaza Strip since Sunday Palestinian security officials say at least 14 people have been killed in a fourth day of factional clashes between Fatah and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Separately, Palestinians say at least four people were killed in an Israeli air strike on a Hamas position in southern Gaza. Hamas has fired dozens of rockets into Israel since Tuesday. In the inter-Palestinian clashes, five Fatah guards were killed when Hamas gunmen stormed the home of a top Fatah official in Gaza City. In another incident, two Fatah members and five Hamas detainees they were escorting were killed when gunmen fired on their vehicle near a detention center. A Hamas gunman died in a separate clash and a civilian was killed in cross-fire. The attacks resumed just hours after the rival factions announced late Tuesday that they had agreed to another truce - their third in as many days. Previous deals also failed within hours. Shortly after the latest truce was announced, gunmen shot and wounded an Egyptian official who was involved in efforts to halt the fighting. About 40 people have been killed in factional fighting in the Gaza Strip since Sunday. The violence threatens to bring down the fragile unity government of Hamas and Fatah.
