In his weekly Saturday radio address, Mr. Bush said he would support an immigration reform bill that improved security at U.S. borders and held employers accountable for verifying that their workers are legal. He also said he wants a bill that creates a temporary worker program and resolves the status of illegal immigrants living in the United States. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is expected next week to re-introduce an immigration reform bill passed by the Senate last year.  But a presidential spokesman said Friday that a bipartisan group of lawmakers is working on a new bill. The previous Senate-passed measure would have allowed millions of undocumented workers to stay in the United States and apply to become legal residents after paying small penalties and learning English. Many Republicans opposed that measure because they said it would reward immigrants who broke the law when they crossed the U.S. border.  Those Republicans want the primary focus of such legislation to be on border security.
