Indonesian rescue teams are searching for at least 44 people reported
missing after landslides buried their villages in the country's east.

Days of heavy rain triggered the landslides Saturday on Flores island,
killing at least 25 people. Earlier reports had said 40 bodies were
recovered, but health workers scaled back the death toll Sunday.

Officials say blocked roads are making it difficult for relief workers
to reach the disaster areas. They are trying to deliver emergency aid,
including rice and instant noodles, to the landslide victims.

Seasonal downpours cause landslides and flash floods annually in
Indonesia. Last month, floods in the capital, Jakarta, killed nearly
100 people and paralyzed large sections of the city.
