Authorities say five people were killed and 15 others wounded when a car bomb exploded outside a hospital (Al-Sadr) in Baghdad's predominantly Shi'ite Sadr City neighborhood. In another attack, police say a car bomb killed four people and wounded 20 near a gas station in the central Shi'ite city of Hillah. In the northern town of Tuz Khurmatu, officials say a car bomber and two people were killed in a third explosion. Local police say 11 day laborers waiting in line to find work were wounded in that bombing. The past week is believed to be the deadliest since a major U.S.-backed security crackdown aimed at stopping sectarian violence in Baghdad began in February. On Thursday, two suicide bomb attacks killed at least 82 people in Baghdad and 43 in the Shi'ite town of Khalis, north of the capital.
