The bus carrying about 50 pilgrims was descending a steep mountain road in the French Alps, south of the city Grenoble, Sunday when it developed a brake problem.  It crashed through a protective barrier and into a river ravine below. At the time of the accident, the coach was returning from the Catholic shrine of Notre-dame-de-la-Salette, about 40 kilometers south of Grenoble.
