Separately, five Iraqi policemen were killed and three others wounded in gunbattles between Iraqi security forces and insurgents in the northern city of Mosul. The U.S. military says coalition forces killed 16 terrorists and detained 10 suspects in separate operations in the Baghdad and Haditha areas. The United Nations refugee agency says armed men dressed in Iraqi police uniform abducted 17 Palestinians from their Baghdad apartment. A spokesman for the refugee agency, Ron Redmond, says there are about 15,000 Palestinian refugees in Iraq and that they have increasingly become the target of attacks. In another development, an official at the Iranian embassy in Baghdad has denied Arabic media reports that U.S. and Iraqi forces raided the Iranian mission Tuesday. The U.S. military announced the deaths of one Marine and one American soldier who were killed in separate combat operations in Baghdad and the western al-Anbar province. Earlier, a military statement said more than 600 militiamen loyal to radical Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr were captured during recent raids by Iraqi and U.S. forces. The military said the men - including several "high-level" militiaman from the Mahdi Army - are currently awaiting prosecution by the Iraqi government.
