The demonstrators gathered Saturday night at Government House, chanting "Thaksin, get out!"  Many of them wore yellow headbands with the words, "Save the Nation." Across town, tens of thousands of Buddhist monks and worshippers chanted prayers for national peace and unity at a candlelight vigil.  They gathered at a field near the Grand Palace. One day earlier, the leader of the opposition Democrat Party urged King Bhumibol Adulyadej to name an interim prime minister to oversee political reform before the general election scheduled for April second. Opposition parties have staged more than a month of street protests, accusing the prime minister of corruption.  Mr. Thaksin dissolved parliament last month and called elections three years ahead of schedule in a bid to quell the protests. .
