The operation took place Saturday in Argun, near the Chechen capital, Grozny. Chechen Prime Minister Ramzan Kadyrov said one of Sadulayev's aides sold information about his whereabouts to police. Mr. Kadyrov also said Chechen militants were plotting a terror attack in Argun ahead of the Group of Eight summit set for St. Petersburg in July. The head of Russia's Federal Security Service, Nikolai Patrushev, says an FSB agent and a police officer were killed during the operation. Sadulayev succeeded Aslan Maskhadov as president of Chechnya's breakaway government after Maskhadov was killed in March 2005 in a raid by Russian forces. The Russian republic of Chechnya has been plagued by a decade of bloody fighting between separatists and Russian government forces.
