into a truck that was stopped on the tracks at a road crossing. The
impact derailed the first two passenger carriages.

Witnesses say the truck driver was able to get out of his vehicle
safely before the collision.

The accident is the most serious in Israel since last June, when
several people were killed and more than 100 injured in a collision
between a packed commuter train and a truck south of Tel Aviv. Some
