American Journalist Kidnapped in Iraq

Authorities say the American journalist - who was not identified - was
on her way to a meeting with a Sunni Arab leader Saturday, when her
car was stopped by gunmen in the Adel district of west Baghdad.

There has been a spate of kidnappings of Westerners in Iraq over the
past few months. Four Christian peace activists are still being held
captive.

In another development Saturday, Iraqi police say a suicide car bomb
hit a passing Iraqi police patrol in southeast Baghdad, wounding at
least nine people.
