Egyptian Diplomat Kidnapped in Gaza Strip

immediate claim of responsibility for the kidnapping Palestinian
security officials say an Egyptian diplomat has been kidnapped in the
Gaza Strip.

Officials say the diplomat was heading toward the Egyptian diplomatic
offices in Gaza City Thursday when masked gunmen surrounded his car,
forced him into a separate vehicle and took him to an unknown
location.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the kidnapping.

Palestinian police were conducting an investigation of the incident.

Palestinian gunmen have kidnapped foreigners in the past, often to
press demands for jobs, but had never abducted an Egyptian. Some
