policeman was killed and at least two civilians were wounded in a
roadside bomb blast in western Baghdad, Tuesday.

Another roadside bomb exploded as an Iraqi Cabinet minister was
driving through an eastern district of the capital. Police say the
government official was unhurt, but three security guards in her
convoy were wounded.

A series of bomb attacks in Baghdad, Mosul and Karbala killed at least
24 people on Monday, including an American soldier.

British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw is holding talks in Baghdad
Tuesday about the slow progress in forming a new Iraqi government
following December's elections. He is expected to call on Iraq's
political leaders to set aside ethnic and sectarian differences and
agree on a government capable of uniting the country.

The U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Zalmay Khalilzad, warned Monday that the
United States will not support institutions plagued by sectarian
agendas. He also urged Iraq's political factions to come together.
