Authorities say the shooting occurred Saturday as protesters pelted police with stones and tried to block a road in the town of Cheniot, in the central province of Punjab. It was not clear whether police or protesters fired the shots. At least five people have been killed in Pakistan this week during violent demonstrations against the cartoons. Friday, Pakistani authorities detained Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba, a militant group to prevent him from inciting protesters. Separately, at least 10 people were killed Friday in Libya during a protest against the cartoons that first appeared in a Danish newspaper.
