The reports say Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz told the cabinet today that the week-old ceasefire in the Gaza Strip should not be broadened.  Peretz also told Israeli ministers that Palestinian militants have fired 15 rockets at Israel since the ceasefire went into effect last Sunday. In the occupied West Bank, Palestinian witnesses say Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian teenager. The witnesses say the boy, Jamil Jabaji, was throwing rocks at the Israeli troops. In other news, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday he is still hopeful that the ruling Hamas group and his more moderate Fatah faction will agree on a unity government. Mr. Abbas spoke after meeting with France's Segolene Royal.  Royal is the French socialist party's candidate  for president. She is touring the Middle East. Fatah and Hamas have been trying to form a unity government for months.  They hope a new government will be able to convince donor nations to restore aid. Western governments suspended aid to the Palestinian Authority after the militant Islamic group Hamas won parliamentary elections in January and took power.
