Forty-one-year-old schoolteacher John Mark Karr spoke to reporters in Bangkok shortly after Thai police revealed that he had confessed to killing JonBenet Ramsey. In his first public comments, Karr said he was with JonBenet when she died and that he loved her. The girl was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her family's home in the western state of Colorado. JonBenet was a child beauty pageant queen. Karr was arrested Wednesday, and is to be extradited to the United States to face charges of murder, kidnapping and child sexual assault. Investigators had suspected JonBenet's parents in the killing.  They were never charged, but the suspicion lasted for years. In a statement, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency says it was pleased to assist authorities in both Colorado and Thailand in identifying and locating Karr. Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters. .
