Iraqi policemen inspect the site where two car bombs exploded Monday
April 24, 2006Three car bombs have exploded in the Iraqi capital,
Baghdad, killing at least six people and wounding about 40 others.

Iraqi officials say three people were killed and 25 wounded Monday in
a blast near the Ministry of Health building. Hours later, bombs
hidden in two cars near Mustansiriya University in eastern Baghdad
killed three people and wounded at least 15 others.

The attacks, which follow a rocket blast that killed seven people
Sunday, come as Prime Minister-designate Jawad al-Maliki begins the
daunting task of trying to form a national unity government.

Mr. Maliki was designated prime minister Saturday, ending a four-month
deadlock over the post.

President Bush commended Iraq's political leaders Sunday for their
breakthrough toward forming a permanent government, but stressed the
new leadership must now get to work fighting the country's insurgency.
