President pledged US will not waiver in helping Iraq defeat terrorists
and take its place among world's democracies





George W. BushPresident Bush has called Iraqi President Jalal Talabani
a testament to the power of human freedom.

After talks at the White House Tuesday, the two leaders appeared
before the media. Mr. Bush pledged that the United States will not
waiver in helping Iraq defeat terrorists and take its place among the
world's democracies.

He also congratulated Mr. Talabani on his leadership as Iraqi
politicians worked out a draft constitution, which the Iraqi people
will vote on next month.







Jalal Talabani Mr. Talabani thanked Mr. Bush for, "liberating the
Iraqi people. " He added that he believes democracy is the solution to
problems in the Middle East.

The two presidents met ahead of Wednesday's opening of the United
Nations General Assembly in New York, where they are expected to
discuss Iraq's future and other issues.
