Iraqi police secure home made bombs, filled with TNT, after
discovering suicide car and remote control device in center of
Baghdad, FridayIn the latest violence to rock Iraq, a suicide car
bomber has detonated his explosives in a crowded market south of
Baghdad, killing at least 17 people and wounding 40.

Police say the attack Friday was in Suwayrah, about 40 kilometers
south of the capital, in an area known for insurgent violence.

In another suicide bombing, this time in the northern city of Tikrit,
a bomber crashed his explosives filled car into a mini-bus carrying
Iraqi policemen, killing at least seven officers.

Meanwhile, in Baghdad, police say residents discovered at least a
dozen bodies, many blindfolded and shot through the head, execution
style.

The Associated Press reports the bodies were found buried at a garbage
dump. Relatives of some of the dead told the news agency they were
farmers who disappeared recently on their way to sell produce at
market.
