More than 1,000 demonstrators marched in Islamabad Friday chanting religious and anti-American slogans and demanding the release of those detained. Organizers say they object to raids on religious schools and mosques in a crackdown they say is an effort to appease the United States and the West. More than 300 people have been detained so far across Pakistan since the July seventh London bombings carried out by British Muslims of Pakistani origin who had visited the country before the attacks.
