Hurricane Katrina Saturday morningThe U.S. National Hurricane Center says Katrina is moving west with sustained winds near 184 kilometers per hour. Heavy rains are expected Saturday, in western Cuba and Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Forecasters say the storm is expected to significantly intensify over the warm waters of the Gulf, and make a sharp turn north before striking the U.S. southern coastline by early Monday. The hurricane blew across the southern tip of the Florida peninsula Thursday and Friday, causing widespread flooding and leaving well over one million homes and businesses without electricity. Katrina is the second hurricane to strike Florida this year, and the sixth to hit the state since last August. .
