A roadside bomb in southern Zabul province killed the four soldiers and wounded three others early Sunday. The area, Deh Chopan, has seen a surge of fighting in recent weeks, with more than 200 suspected militants killed. Hours later, in the western outskirts of Kabul, a roadside bomb went off near a convoy of U.S. Embassy vehicles, slightly wounding two embassy officials. In a separate incident, in southern Kandahar province, gunmen on motorcycles gunned down a senior pro-government cleric.
