                         AirPods Pro Firmware Problems

   There's always a tension between wanting silent updates that you don't
   have to think about and wanting control over when to install them.
   Joseph Curran has [1]a lengthy post on Medium outlining the history of
   Apple's silent firmware updates to the AirPods Pro, and it's safe to
   say that he would come down on the side of wanting control. Apparently,
   many who purchased the AirPods Pro immediately [2]noticed a significant
   weakening of the noise cancellation algorithm two weeks later, when
   Apple released the 2B588 firmware update. A month later, Apple released
   another update, 2C54, only to pull it a month after that. Frankly, it
   sounds as though the AirPods Pro firmware was caught up in the same
   release confusion as iOS 13 and macOS 10.15 Catalina. The noise
   cancellation still works well, although some early adopters would say
   that it's not as good as it was initially. Apple has yet to comment on
   the situation.
