Schmitz Bare Bones Software has released [1]TextWrangler 4.5.1, which mirrors the bulk of the fixes found in the simultaneously released [2]BBEdit 10.5.3 ' TextWrangler's more powerful (and non-free) sibling. Among the highlights, the general-purpose text editor fixes a bug that confused BBEdit for TextWrangler in the Enable popup; fixes an issue where the Text Encoding popup in the save panel didn't reflect the current encoding setting; squashes a bug that used excessive memory for some internal data structures and would crash the app when opening large, complicated files; reduces the amount of time displaying startup progress; fixes a bug where the 'Show hidden items' in the Open panel was checked but not honored; and corrects some artwork for enhanced viewing on Retina displays.
