For those for whom the iPhone 2.0 software doesn't allow independent apps to be loaded, we have direct confirmation from Steve Jobs that it's a bug that will be fixed in September. And on the MobileMe side, Rich Mogull looks at how the service's Web interface is insecure, but he verifies that other applications like Mail, iChat, and iCal do use secure communications. Apple also extended MobileMe memberships by another 60 days, but Adam notices that the company did this without actually apologizing for all the problems, so he compares Apple's handling of the MobileMess with the handling of Google's Gmail outage and Netflix's shipping problems. Changing gears, Charles Maurer looks for an application to help him track his wine collection, and ends up settling on FileMaker's Bento. In the Watchlist this week, we cover the releases of the important MacBook Air Update, Mactracker 5.0.4, and Keyboard Maestro 3.4.
