Texas Health Workers Arrested for Providing Abortions Amid Near-Total Ban

In Texas, a midwife has been arrested for providing abortions, marking
the first time a provider faces criminal charges under the state's
near-total abortion ban. María Margarita Rojas owned and operated a
network of health clinics in the Houston suburbs. One of her employees,
José Ley, was also charged. Both are also being accused of practicing
without a medical license. The abortion charge is a second-degree felony
in Texas and punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
