Pentagon Kills Senior Islamic State Leader in Syria

The Pentagon says that it killed a senior Islamic State leader and two
other members of ISIS in Aleppo, Syria, in a raid on Friday. The
Pentagon said the men posed a threat to U.S. forces and the new Syrian
government. This comes weeks after the U.S. lifted most economic
sanctions on Syria. On Sunday, the head of Syria's electoral commission
announced that the country is set to hold its first parliamentary
election under the new government in September.
