Trump Executive Order Claims Power Over Independent Regulatory Agencies 
------------------------------------------------------------------------

President Trump's monarchical claims, which are unprecedented in U.S.
history, came a day after he signed an executive order giving himself
greater power over independent regulatory agencies, which, by
congressional mandate, are supposed to be shielded from interference by
the chief executive. Agencies falling under Trump's order include the
Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Securities and Exchange
Commission and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
