Florida Asks Federal Appeals Court to Keep Operating "Alligator Alcatraz"

Florida Governor Ron De Santis has asked a federal appeals court to put
on hold a judge's ruling last week that could force the closure of a new
immigration jail in the Everglades dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz." The
judge had ordered the Trump administration to stop transferring
immigrants to the jail. Meanwhile, weekly vigils are continuing to be
held outside the immigration jail to protest what organizers have
described as the inhumane treatment of people detained inside.
