New Zealand Lawmakers Reject Bill to Roll Back Māori Rights

In New Zealand, a hotly contested bill which would have rolled back
Indigenous Māori rights has been defeated. The measure, which sought to
reinterpret the Treaty of Waitangi, was met with widespread protests,
both on the streets and inside Parliament, led by Indigenous lawmakers.
