June 25, 2024 Louisiana Families Sue over State's "Ten Commandments" Law ---------------------------------------------------------- In Louisiana, a group of multifaith and nonreligious parents has filed a lawsuit over the state's new law mandating the Ten Commandments be displayed in public school classrooms. This is plaintiff Jeff Sims, a Presbyterian pastor with children in Louisiana public schools. Jeff Sims: "This new law doesn't just interfere with my and my children's religious freedom. It tramples on it. The separation of church and state means that families get to decide if, when and how their children should be introduced to religious scripture and texts, not the state." .
