Issues 175,000 Marijuana Pardons Ahead of Juneteenth ------------------------------------------------------------------ The governor of Maryland is planning today to pardon 175,000 marijuana convictions. The sweeping move by Governor Wes Moore is expected to help about 100,000 people who were arrested on low-level drug charges. In an interview with The Washington Post, Moore said, "I'm ecstatic that we have a real opportunity with what I'm signing to right a lot of historical wrongs." Moore said he timed pardons for the week of Juneteenth, the federal holiday on June 19 to mark the end of slavery in the United States. .
