Israel Launches New Strikes in Syria as Syrians Vote in Parliamentary Elections

A Syrian soldier was killed Sunday after Israel launched fresh strikes
in and around Damascus. Israel's military said it had targeted a Syrian
military command center as well as other infrastructure in response to
two drones that were fired toward Israel from Syrian territory. This
comes as parliamentary elections are taking place in Syria today, which
could pave the way for a constitutional amendment to extend the term of
President Bashar al-Assad. This is the fourth election that's been held
in Syria since the war began in 2011.
