Average Global Temperature Rises 2°C Above Pre-Industrial Levels for First Time on Record

In climate news, global average surface temperatures on Friday reached
more than 2 degrees Celsius, or 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit, above
pre-industrial levels. It's the first time on record that Earth's daily
average temperature has exceeded the 2-degree benchmark. The 2015 Paris
Climate Agreement set just 1.5 degrees as the maximum allowable global
temperature rise.
