U.S. Senators Call on Biden to Expand Protected Status for Haitian Refugees
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

A group of Democratic senators, led by Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey,
are urging the Biden administration to expand and extend temporary
protected status, or TPS, for Haitians as thousands continue to flee to
the United States. Haiti's current TPS designation expires in February.
The Biden administration has continued to mass deport Haitian asylum
seekers, including children, despite widespread shortages of food, water
and other vital resources.
