Hochul and Zeldin Lay Out Differences On Abortion, Crime, Guns and 2020 Election

In New York, Governor Kathy Hochul squared off with Republican
Congressmember Lee Zeldin in their only gubernatorial debate. Governor
Hochul called out Zeldin's positions on abortion rights, gun control and
his support of Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential
election results.

Gov. Kathy Hochul: "You basically heard Lee Zeldin say he would vote
once again to overturn a presidential election. I think that's something
everybody should know. And the fact that he sent text messages to the
chief of staff of the White House to lay out the strategy on how to
subvert public opinion and try to carve it into this idea that there's a
big lie out there. … And I think that is deeply troubling."

Ahead of Tuesday's debate, climate activists shut down traffic on Park
Avenue as they called on Governor Hochul to tax the rich and pass a
Green New Deal. Police arrested some of the activists who were
protesting in front of Black Rock headquarters
