São Tomé and Príncipe PM Says Gov't Thwarted Coup

The prime minister of the central African nation of São Tomé and
Príncipe said government forces thwarted a coup attempt Friday.
Authorities say four people were killed. Two people have been arrested,
including an opposition politician. The small island nation, located in
the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean, has a population of under a
quarter of a million people and a relatively stable democracy.
