Second Federal Court Blocks Biden's Student Debt Relief Program

A federal appeals court has temporarily blocked the Biden
administration's student loan relief program while it reviews a lawsuit
by six Republican-led states. The challenge is being pushed by Nebraska,
Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas and South Carolina, arguing Biden's
plan to cancel up to $20,000 in student debt per person would deprive
these states of tax revenue. The program had already been put on hold
even after the Education Department had approved 16 million borrowers
for up to $20,000 of relief - out of 26 million people who have applied
for the program.
