Macron Fights to Keep Parliamentary Majority

In France, President Emmanuel Macron is fighting to keep his
parliamentary majority after a strong showing by a left-wing alliance
led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon. During the first round of voting in
parliamentary elections, the blocs led by Macron and Mélenchon each
received around a quarter of the vote. Marine Le Pen's far-right party
came in third with just under 19% of the vote. Voters will return to the
polls next Sunday for a second and final round of voting.
