Supreme Court Rules 5-4 to Allow Biden to End "Remain in Mexico" Border Policy
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Supreme Court ruled 5 to 4 Thursday that the Biden administration
may end the Trump-era "Remain in Mexico" program, formally known as the
Migrant Protection Protocols, or MPP. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote
in the majority opinion that a lower court had overreached when it found
the policy should remain in place after President Biden ordered it
rescinded last year. Since the program's implementation in 2019, some
70,000 asylum seekers were forced to wait in Mexico while their cases
were resolved in U.S. courts. Thousands enrolled in MPP reported being
kidnapped, raped, tortured and facing homelessness while they waited in
Mexico.
