Mali's Military Rulers Cement Hold on Power

Mali's parliament has approved a plan that will allow the West African
nation's military rulers to remain in power for at least five more
years. All but one member of Mali's 121-seat army-dominated Legislature
approved of the plan Monday, which fails to set a date for future
elections. Mali's military had initially promised elections would be
held this month, after it seized power in an August 2020 coup.
