Proud Boys Stand Trial for Seditious Conspiracy over Jan. 6 Violence

Jury selection got underway Monday in the trial of the former leader of
the far-right Proud Boys organization and four of his associates.
Enrique Tarrio and the others each face nine counts including seditious
conspiracy against the United States, after they heeded then-President
Donald Trump's call to "fight like hell" at the Capitol on January 6,
2021. All five men have pleaded not guilty; their attorneys have argued
their actions were constitutionally protected "free speech."
