Amnesty International to Close Hong Kong Office, Citing Fear of Reprisal from Beijing

Amnesty International is closing its Hong Kong office by the end of the
month, citing fears for the safety of staff working under a sweeping
national security law imposed by Chinese authorities in Beijing.
Amnesty's regional headquarters will close before year's end. In a
statement, Amnesty International said Hong Kong's national security law
has "made it effectively impossible for human rights organizations in
Hong Kong to work freely and without fear of serious reprisals from the
government."
