Abortion Ban Reinstated in Texas After Federal Appeals Court Ruling

Texas's near-total ban on abortions is back in effect after a federal
appeals court ruling Friday. The court said the state could temporarily
resume its ban on most abortions, reversing a decision by a federal
judge just two days earlier. Nancy Northup, president and CEO of the
Center for Reproductive Rights, condemned the appeals court decision,
saying, "The Supreme Court needs to step in and stop this madness. It's
unconscionable that the Fifth Circuit stayed such a well-reasoned
decision that allowed constitutionally protected services to return in
Texas."
