November 4, 2021 Socialist Candidate India Walton Concedes Hard-Fought Mayoral Race in Buffalo, NY --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Buffalo, New York, democratic socialist mayoral candidate India Walton has conceded to incumbent Mayor Byron Brown, who ran a successful write-in campaign after losing the Democratic primary to Walton. In Minneapolis, Mayor Jacob Frey has won reelection. Frey opposed a ballot measure to replace the Minneapolis police with a Department of Public Safety. That measure failed to pass. In Detroit, voters passed ballot initiatives to form a reparations task force and to decriminalize some psychedelic drugs, including magic mushrooms. Similar drug ballot initiatives passed in Oregon and Washington, D.C., last year. On Wednesday's broadcast, we mistakenly said those votes took place on Tuesday. Meanwhile, in Tucson, Arizona, voters have approved a citywide $15-an-hour minimum wage by a two-to-one margin. .
