Juul Reaches $40 Million Settlement with North Carolina over Teen Nicotine Addiction

The e-cigarette maker Juul Labs has agreed to pay $40 million to settle
a lawsuit brought by North Carolina, charging that its marketing
practices led to widespread nicotine addiction among teenagers. The
settlement comes as 13 other states and the District of Columbia are
pressing similar lawsuits and as the Food and Drug Administration is
considering whether to allow Juul products to remain on the market.
