as Canada's first Indigenous governor general.

Governor General Mary Simon: "I am honored, humbled and ready to be
Canada's first Indigenous governor general."

As governor general, Mary Simon will serve as Queen Elizabeth's federal
representative in Canada as well as commander-in-chief of the Canadian
Armed Forces.
