Ugandans Go to Polls Amid Violence and Crackdown on Opposition

In Uganda, voting has begun in the closely watched race between longtime
President Yoweri Museveni and the rapper-turned-politician known as Bobi
Wine. On Wednesday, tanks began patrolling areas of Kampala largely in
opposition stronghold neighborhoods. During the campaign, security
forces repeatedly cracked down on opposition rallies, killing more than
50 people. Uganda shut down all social media platforms ahead of the
election.
