EU to Cut Carbon Emissions by 55% from 1990 Levels

The European Union has announced plans to cut carbon emissions by 55% -
compared to 1990 levels - by the end of the decade. Environmental groups
say the plan fails to meet the challenge of the climate crisis and is
not in line with the Paris Agreement's ambition of limiting global
temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
