Gov't Watchdog Probing Pentagon Use of Force and Interest in Deploying "Heat Rays" Against Protesters

The Government Accountability Office is investigating the Pentagon's
interest in using "heat rays" against protesters near the White House,
as well as the use of other so-called nonlethal weapons that were
deployed on anti-police-brutality protesters in recent months. Demands
for an independent investigation into the use of force began in June,
days after federal police violently cleared peaceful protesters from
Lafayette Square in D.C. with tear gas and smoke.
