Senate Coronavirus Relief Bill Fails as Another 857,000 File New Unemployment Claims
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Labor Department is reporting another 857,000 people filed for state
unemployment insurance last week. In addition, 839,000 people filed
claims with a federal program aimed at helping freelancers and others.
Meanwhile, Senate Republicans failed to advance a new slimmed-down
coronavirus relief package, making it increasingly unlikely a new
stimulus bill will be approved before the election.
